Australian dark dream folk ensemble Dandelion Wine has unveiled the video for their latest single, ‘Faerie Lullaby’.
Originating in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, the band blends medieval and Middle Eastern instruments with electronic beats, analogue synths, female vocals, and swirling guitars. Their musical style encompasses ethereal, medieval, world music, dream pop, electronica, and darkwave.
Formed initially as a four-piece group in the mid-1996, Dandelion Wine has seen various lineup changes over the years. Core members Naomi Henderson and Nicholas Albanis remain from the original lineup.
The band’s upcoming album, “Hereafter,” set for release on June 22nd, 2023, follows their 2018 album, “Le Cœur.”
Discussing their fusion of traditional and contemporary instruments, the band shares their inspiration for incorporating medieval lyrics into their music. They chose a Shakespearean text for its imagery and mood, complementing their musical style.
‘Faerie Lullaby’ is accompanied by an atmospheric video created through a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Naomi Henderson and the band’s longtime photographer, Colin Page.
The single is independently available on all streaming platforms starting May 26th, 2023.
